This is an amazing biography of Mikhail Kalashnikov and his rifle(s), written by his daughter. Contains significant auto-biographical writing as well. The book is organized chronologically and includes notes about Kalashnikov's military service, combat injury, and subsequent involvement in the design and production of the AK-47 and other weapons systems. There are several hundred full-color photographs of weapons and other artifacts; many images are collages of various items including numerous contemporaneous designers. The quality of this book is superb. It is a joy to read; informative; and told from a distinctly non-American perspective.
