Brown Bear 7.62x39 Subsonic Ammunition (500-Round Case)

Brown Bear 7.62x39 AK-47 subsonic ammunition shares the same great features of previous Brown Bear offerings, including a lacquered steel case construction, and Berdan priming for reliable ignition—even after years of long-term storage.

The reason Brown Bear’s Subsonic ammunition outperforms the competition is twofold. First, the ammunition is not just another "off the assembly line" offering. Instead, it is the result of over two years of collaboration between the ballisticians at the Barnaul factory and testing and feedback from experts in the United States.

Second, the Subsonic 7.62x39 ammunition is manufactured to exacting standards normally reserved for military-specification ammunition by the Barnaul factory in Russia. And let’s face it, factory loads top remanufactured offerings.

Brown Bear’s 7.62x39 Subsonic ammunition is constructed with a proprietary powder blend, topped with a 196-grain full metal jacket (FMJ) bullet. The performance is nothing short of exceptional.

    Ballistic Coefficient (G1)  0.383
    Muzzle Velocity V0, m/sec (ft/sec)  340 (1,115)
    Muzzle Energy E0, J (ft/lb.)  734 (541)
    Radius of dispersion R50, cm (inch) @ 100 m (109 yds.)  4.5 (1.77)
    Maximum Powder Pressure, bar (lb/inch2)  3,550 (51,488)

    Cycles Great
Recently I picked up a case of this and put half of it away for a rainy day. I have an SAM7SF and SAM7K and I shot about 100 rounds through each without issue. The ejection pattern was very consistent and cycling was not an issue even when testing the ammo without a suppressor on which was important to me. I'll be picking up another case soon. Glad to see some real Russian subsonic ammo that cycles!

    Great ammo.
Cycles my Galil Ace with no issues, but only suppressed. Quiet, and the recoil is noticably softer.

    Smooth and Reliable
This ammo does exactly what it is supposed to do: cycle reliably and quietly. I stock up whenever on sale.

    Huge thumbs up
I can't believe it, but this cycles a suppressed CZ Bren 2 with an OSS can on it (basically no backpressure).... with a short barrel (9in).  I turned up the gas to adverse and boom, cycled consistently.  Didn't work with normal gas setting, but I expected that would be the case.  Great stuff, still shocked.

Cycles Vepr unsuppressed as well as suppressed
Ran this through a Vepr 7.62 x 39.  Suppressed it is "Hollywood quiet" and I was pleasantly surprised that it cycled perfectly in the Vepr shooting without the can, too!

Got it to cycle in my Sam7k
Got it to cycle in my Arsenal Sam7k-04 and greatly happy about it because I installed a KNS adjustable piston so I can have my baby last me for the rest of my life and also I run a D.A. wolverine pbs1 an those cans also help with back pressure but I managed to get her running with no problems. I sure hope that this subsonic Brown Bear ammo stays in stock because I will be purchasing at least another 500-1000rds soon.

    Yep
Runs suppressed in my AK, also fine in my Ruger American obviously and pretty accurate.  A little louder than the PPU sub, but to be expected this is advertised about 100 fps faster.  Great ammo.

Very enjoyable to shoot suppressed with no hearing protection.
I shoot this through a 16" barrel Colt AR suppressed with an OSS 762 silencer. Nice! Quiet. Decent groups for an AK roynd at 100 yds. I show an expected 10 - 12 inch lower impact than the 124 gr supersonic ammo, same set up.

Cycle in my Galil Ace pistol with KNS piston
I have the KNS piston set to cycle regular red army ammo with without over gassing. These Brown Bear Subsonic cycle reliably with the same setting with my Nomad suppressor on. Also, with the suppress, this ammo shoots stupid quiet, it is insane

    Good stuff
I built an AR pistol with a suppressor just to run this stuff.  Finally got the buffer weight and spring figured out and now it cycles perfectly every time, even without the can on it, using either Duramags or Ross Defense Unimags.  Also, use a lightened bolt carrier (Right to Bear Arms house brand).  The barrel is 8" KAK match grade.  No bullet wobble evidence on paper targets from heavy subs.  Barrel stabilizes the 196 grain bullets fine.   Bolt is also KAK.  Wish this ammo was cheaper but oh well.  It's way cheaper than feeding my 300 BLK subs.

    PWS MK107 7.62x39
Doesn't cycle my PWS MK107 7.62x39 on any gas setting unsuppressed, but I didn't expect it to (runs Wolf 123gr on gas setting 2 like a dream.)

Slapped my buddy's Deadair Sandman S on the end, dialed in on gas setting 1 and WOW! Cycles perfectly! Straight ejection pattern. Low recoil (somewhere between my mp5k and D.I. guns). Almost as quiet as our .300 BLKout builds, PACT Timer registers only 1 or 2 of the shots during a course of fire.

Will be stocking up on more ammo right after I order me a Deadair Sandman K. lol
